Help the child see what he is good at. Motivate him that he can do much better and could aim for the stars. Encourage his ideas and help him reflect on his ambitions in life.

Children go through oodles of complex emotions when their families are unstable. They need help in identifying and processing these feelings. Most importantly, to need to release these feelings.
PREVENT SELF-BLAME
Often, children blame themselves when things are unruly within family. It is essential to help them understand it is not their fault.
