Brain Fog

There are instances when we feel something has clouded our brain. It is quite a common phenomena . It can be a time when you may have planned it well, worked hard for it but at that particular time you may have felt a bit scattered or confused. This situation when you feel unable to think is known as Brain Fog. It happens to elderly people more often and that is why they tend to be forgetful but it also happens to us some several times. During the exams, public speaking or any other case. The most common example is that some students, despite being well prepared for their exams, get confused or become blank while writing their paper. The reason could be exam related stress or sleepless nights during exam preparation. This calls out for reflection on timely & regular follow up of the syllabus, in order to avoid the eleventh moment stress.

This may make you feel unbalanced, disorganised or even confused. 

It is just a mental condition for a brief period of time. This can also lead to lack of focus and mental clarity.

The glitchs in the brain function does not allow you to think as quickly as it should.

Let’s look at the symptoms of brain fog.

i. Trouble in sleeping

ii. headache

iii. low on energy

iv. forgetfulness

v. irritability 

vi. mood swings

Brain Fog in a common scenario is triggered by a lifestyle that includes stress and that leads to hormonal imbalance . 

i. Excessive exposure to electromagnetic radiation from computers, mobile phones or other electronic gadgets. 

ii. Lack of sleep- Our sleep schedules have gone for a toss with the busy schedule or for the lifestyle we have opted for. This is the most common factor of Brain fog.

iii. No exercise– Not only for physical regime but also for better cognition is it important to include exercise in the routine. Good exercise is what keeps everything in place.

iv. Improper diet/lack of nutrition-Deficiency of amino acids, minerals and vitamins and antioxidants also lead to brain fog

v. Exposure to pollution- This has become a part of our experience also because of the toxins that are released through pollution

vi. Emotional and social contributors– Emotional complications or a troubled social interaction can lead to brain fog

Quick way to remind you how you get rid of it-

Spending less time on computers or mobile phones.

Reminding yourself to take a break while working on screens.

Stress management

Changing your diet to a holistic diet plan that should  not include much of processed food items

Getting a proper sleep of 7-8 hours

Going to bed not later than at least midnight
